Hola from Buenos Aires

I was lucky enough to explore some of what Argentina and Chile have to offer, courtesy of Air New Zealand and South America Tourism Office here in Christchurch.

What a great introduction to Buenos Aires, after 11 hrs 45 mins of smooth flying across the South Pacific ocean we enjoyed a beautiful group dinner of Argentinian delicacy - steak! It's true, they really do know how to cook their meat!

Over the next 24 hrs we saw highlights of the city, 9 de Julio Ave, the widest avenue in the world, the famous Colon Opera House, the Obelisk, a visit to the famous colourful district "La Boca", where the first Italian immigrants settled and home to 'Boca Juniors', one of the most popular football clubs in Argentina and then finally a visit to Recoleta cemetery, where the famous are laid to rest, including First Lady of Argentina Eva Peron.

To top off an amazing day we learnt a little of the art of the 'Tango' ourselves before enjoying dinner and a show of this sensual and elegant dance made famous here in Argentina!
